Climbing Program

Rock Climbing and Adventure Series
Our Rock Climbing and Adventure Series have grown out of integral components of our wilderness trips and offer local youth ongoing outdoor adventure education opportunities. Rock Climbing is a challenge that pushes individuals physically, emotionally and mentally. All wilderness trips offer a backcountry climbing opportunity which many consider to be a life changing experience.

Our summer and winter climbing clubs offer local youth ages 8-16 an opportunity to begin a life long pursuit and personal growth. During June-August we climb outside and in the fall, winter and spring we are climbing and running the Gypsum Rec Center climbing program. Summer climbing club is offered at $55 per class or $50 for 5 or more classes. We pick up in Edwards at 9:00 each Tuesday and in Eagle at 9:00 each Thursday with return at 3:00.

Adventure Series classes are being offered as a progressive educational experience offering students classes on backcountry navigation, gear management, mountain safety and Leave No Trace so they may continue to explore the wilderness on their own.

 

"The trip was a lot of fun. It was hard work but the scenery was great. I remember hiking in a light rain and feeling at peace. I was glad the rain waited until we got back to the tents before it rained hard. Rock climbing was great. I was so scared and didn't want to do it. I was talked into it. I remember wanting to get up as fast as I could. After I did it, I felt proud of myself. I didn't let my fear keep me from the experience. It was worth the climb. The whole trip taught me that I am a stronger person than I thought I was. I gained confidence in myself. I'm glad I had the experiece."
